beauty is forever

Many years ago.....my dear friends, Ron and Iva Rifkin had a wonderful house in the Los Feliz area of Hollywood, and Ron, planted an 'English Garden'.

I fell in love with his beautiful luscious garden and took a couple of hundred photographs with my Pentax SLR Camera.......
As many of you know.....I love to get in close when photographing flowers.......
And sometimes the pictures look quite abstract.....
And, sometimes they don't.
I don't know what this flower is.....but I Love the way these little pods look........
And,
Here below is the way the whole flower looked....
There will be more of these, as I am finally able to download all my slides.....
Hooray!
These pictures were all taken in
May, 1979.....

More To Come.......

NOTE: RIP Dear Brilliant Maya Angelou. You were a very special woman, in every way.....

These open my heart, especially #3. The others are like a petal keyboard that make imaginary music. Glad you can access your slides!

Yes, blessings to Maya Angelou. She was a friend of Nikki G's and Nikki spoke of her during her reading, must days before Maya passed.

Wow, these are great! You have an eye for flowers, no doubt.
And RIP and respect to Maya Angelou, indeed. One of a kind in many ways.

I think that flower is aquilegia, Naomi, and your photos are wonderful.

The "pod" thing you mentioned is pollen. I am pleased to know that you can put your slides on here.

Your flower close ups are suitable for framing. You really make them art.
I was quite saddened by the passing of Maya. What she could do with words was amazing and she could keep an audience spellbound if she only read the phone book. We lost a wise treasure.

I'm so glad you can get your slides to publish! Beautiful, amazing images - indeed, quite surreal.

I posted a bit about Dr. Angelou's passing this morning, too. In the end, I didn't post any of her poetry, but I read some of it this morning, in the 5am hour. A lovely, peaceful way to start the day.

Beautiful flower and photos. I can relate to the slides as I have scanned some but it's such a hassle. Those boxes mostly just set there

I've always like Ron Rifkin...he's played some excellent roles.

Maya Angelou lived a full and interesting life...an inspirational woman with a strong soul, yet gentle also.

The flower is Columbine, or Aquilegia. When I was little, we had lots of Columbine plants lining the path to our house, all colours, pink, blue, purple, white. The plants were taller than I was, and my dad and I used to play "Peep behind the Columbine"! I have some white ones in my tiny garden.... transplanted from YoungerSon's garden. So pretty, and they bring me happy memories of playing with my dad.

These closeups are fascinating. There is an artist here in Miami, Miguel Rodez, I think you would love. He creates exotic (or is it erotic?) flowers. Let me see if I cn find one and I'll e-mail you what I'm talking about.

I wish I had your gift with photographing flowers. They always have a special Naomi look which I remember first noticing years back when I first discovered your blog.
This amazing flower reminds me of a most exotic daffodil.
